<br/><br/> Recent archaeological research in Greece and Cyprus concerning the beginning of the Neolithic wirthin the wider southeastern Mediterranean context have led to some new approaches towards the interpretation of cultyral changes in these areas during the early prehistory.     New evidence regarding the last phases of the Palaeolithic as well as the first stages of the Neolithic periods in Greece and Cyprus, seem to allow a critical re-evaluation of older views and the formulations of new hypotheses.
