Summary, etc. The early Neolithic fauna on Cyprus were introduces by the first human settlers. For many species, this event pre-dates their domestication on the mainland. In the absence of evidence for morphometric change in most Cypriot species, and the equivocal pattern of age, sex and skeletal element representation, it is concluded that these animals were wild rather than culturally managed or domesticated. Analogies from the historic and ethnographic literature document the release of wild animals on islands to serve as food sources (''ethnotramps''). It is also proposed that periodically, fresh stock was brought from the mainland to Cyprus and that at a later point the Neolithic, this included domestic animal.
