Report on the extraction of sand, gravel, crushed stone and the environment /
by The technical subcommittee on building materials.
- Cyprus: Geological Survey Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Republic of Cyprus, 1974.
- viii, 41 p., appendix 40 : ill., maps, tables ; 30 cm.
January 1974.
There is an ever increasing conflict between the quarrying industry on the one hand and the conservation of the environment, agriculture and water resources on the other. Evidence is supplied, showing that the latter are being adversely affected to a considerable extent in the Kyrenia Range and in the river flood-plains. This is due to the absence of proper planning, a rapid increase in the demand for building materials and to a lack of strict control and supervision.
